About Hidden Worlds
Hidden Worlds is the Yucatan's most well-known location for exploring the fascinating world of cenotes. Its system of undeground caverns and waterways lay hidden within dense tropical foliage over many centuries. In the 1980s a small band of adventurous and environmentally active divers led by Gordon "Buddy" Quattlebaum followed up on the tales of these secret spaces told to them by Mayan friends who spoke of a vast network of sparkling caverns and lakes deep under the jungle floor. (Hidden Worlds lies within special Mayan land reserves.)
With great attention to the long-term preservation of nature's wealth, the cenotes of Hidden Worlds became known to scuba divers around the world through numerous magazine articles, guide books, television documentaries, and even cinema. The caverns were featured as one of only 3 world-wide locations for the IMAX film Journey Into Amazing Caves. The horror film The Cave utilized Hidden Worlds caverns to provide realistic location shots.
Today the wonders of Hidden Worlds are available to everyone. The Hidden Worlds team has worked hard to provide an experience of the Yucatan cenotes and surround flora and fauna that is safe, accessible, and faithful to nature's original design. No paved roads, "simulated" caves, or heavy commercialization. (We do have a small jungle-cafe serving home-cooked lunches as well as a local crafts boutique operated by and for the local populace - but check it out - the prices are really good!)
So to experience a real nature park in the Riviera Maya, we invite you to experience Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park. Exciting, thrilling, astounding, fun-filled, and family-friendly.
